Nearly two weeks after the fact, we finally celebrated Sarah's 37th birthday today with a fabulous lunch at The Grit, one of the most delicious places in a college town that has plenty of funky restaurants to choose from, because life's way too short to eat in chain restaurants with cookie cutter meals. No, thank you.
Then, since we're both incurably nerdish bookworms, we went to the county library for excitement, a place I'd quit going to more'n 20 years ago, as I dove in headfirst into an odd world populated with traumatized, demanding children.
This same library I used to take Sarah to when she was Hazel's age.
And dern if I didn't check me out two books, this after having eaten a vegan Vietnamese sandwich chased down by red velvet cake.
Do we know how to live, or what?

Yummy! I miss The Grit!!
You do know how to live...and you live in a place with options for lunch. Not where I live, not even fast food within 45 min.
And remember, City Cafe in Fayetteville on Friday nights. Next time you have a birthday to celebrate...on a Friday. And I just checked out their website to see this:

Yep...that's my BIL. Sure wish I could be there to hear him. Not easy to leave even my small crew here at home to travel across the USA.
Nancy in the Midwest
Great that you at least have options. Our city doesn't have much but chains. (I miss Houston)
Jessica, Girlfriend, I KNOW San Antonio has wonderful places to eat, but, het The Grit is unique, right?
Nancy...someday....
Penelope, we really do have a great many possibilities here in college town, but I hardly ever do get out.
Sounds like a lovely day with your daughter! I am so thankful that my children love to read - one of the greatests gifts God has given me - to see them cuddled up to a good book.
